Being allergic to wheat is not common in the world today. Despite the fact that wheat is a common ingredient in many products the percentage of the population that develops a wheat allergy is relatively small.

Most doctors believe that this is due to the fact that wheat is very easy to digest. Furthermore, the body is able to use most of the minerals and vitamins that are contained in wheat. Through this there is very little that the body will reject.

Even so, there are still a select few people that develop a wheat allergy and need to learn what can trigger the symptoms.

Most Causes:

Like most of the allergies out there, a wheat allergy is most often formed with a prolonged exposure to wheat. Overall, it is not easy to pin down the exact cause because there are literally millions of products out there that are created using wheat.

Those that eat a large amount of wheat intensive products, such as whole wheat bread and the like are more likely to develop this allergy. There are other products out there that are full of wheat germ as well.

There is also the likelihood that an infant will be born with an allergy to wheat. Why this is has not been discovered but the theory is that most of the infants come from parents that are prone to the wheat allergy themselves.

Common Symptoms:

The symptoms that occur most often are related to digestion. When a person is allergic to wheat their body losses the ability to properly digest wheat and wheat germ. As such, the body will reject this substance.

This can lead to nausea, stomach cramping, and other forms of intestinal distress that will make the victim uncomfortable at the very least.
However, there are cases where the ingestion of wheat can cause some severe symptoms as well. There are rare cases where the victim will have respitory distress when they have ingested wheat germ.

Most often this is the rarest form of the allergic reaction and is not considered the normal behavior for this allergy.

Treatment and Cures:

There is no known cure for the wheat allergy at this time. One must understand that changing how the body reacts to certain substances is not something that can just be changed at a moments notice.

The best method of treatment is to simply avoid wheat and all wheat based products. This is not easy because wheat is used so often in this world but it is possible. Over the years there have been some companies that have been developing products that do not rely on wheat.

This means that you should be able to get the like foods that you want and still be able to enjoy them without too much trouble.
There are also some supplements on the market that have shown promise in helping the body to digest the wheat based products. They are natural supplements that are available at most of the health food stores.

As a whole the world around eats a lot of shellfish. The majority of people will eat hundreds of pounds of shellfish in their lifetime in varying forms. This is the way it has been for hundreds of years and will most likely continue for the future.

The one issue that stands is the fact that for every person that eats a large quantity of shellfish there is another that is allergic to it. This is a sad state for the world when you consider that most of the people that have this severe and somewhat serious allergy would love to be able to eat shellfish on a daily basis.

Common Causes:

A shellfish allergy is something that most often the person is born with. There is not a lot of information available as to the cause because the medical community is just as confused as the rest of the world.

They have discovered that it involves the different chemical make ups of the shellfish themselves. They are different then the rest of the sea based lifeforms because of the way that they live.

At this time it is not believed that a person can become allergic to shellfish. They insist that the person has had the condition for their entire life, even though it may have been dormant for a period of time.

Common Symptoms:

The symptoms for the shellfish allergy are severe to say the least. In most cases a severe skin rash will develop within moments of the shellfish being eaten.
This can run for a long period of time and will need to be treated before it starts to spread to the internal parts of the body. If allowed to run unchecked then it can cause respiratory distress in a small number of people.

Swelling is also very common. Victims will notice that the eyes, hands and lips will swell when the shellfish has been eaten.
Passing out is also possible as well as loss of energy and extreme fatigue.

Cures and Treatments:

There is no cure for a shellfish allergy. There are studies that are being conducted that are hoping to make some kind of connection with the allergy and possible ways to teach the body to stop the reaction.

The most common treatment is steroids. This is normally administered in the form of a concentrated shot. This form of treatment is designed to stop the reaction from spreading and give the body the necessary weapons to fight off the allergy before it continues.

Other common treatments include a salve or ointment for the rash that can occur as well as an anti-itching agent that will aid in the comfort of the patient as well.
To avoid any further problems you should avoid all shellfish. This includes shrimp, crab, lobster, clams, and oysters.

There are pets in homes all over the world. Ever since ancient times the human race has kept pets of all shapes and sizes and since that time there have been those allergic to the dander that comes off the coats of most animals.

Pet dander is easily one of the most common allergies in the world today. However, pet dander allergy is considered more of a nuisance allergy than a real threat to humans.

Symptoms of Pet Dander Allergies

Each person that suffers from a pet dander allergy displays a unique set of symptoms. While it is incredibly rare, there are cases where these symptoms can be life threatening.

In most cases a pet dander allergy reaction starts with itchy, red and watery eyes. This is very similar to what a sufferer of hay fever will experience during the high pollen time of the year.

Hives are also possible. A breakout of red spots all over the body is common in most pet dander allergy sufferers. Whether or not this symptom occurs is usually dependent upon how long the exposure lasts.

In rare cases repository symptoms can occur. This symptom is generally reserved for those that have a severe allergy to pet dander. In most cases this symptom requires the victim to seek immediate medical attention.

Causes of Pet Dander Allergies

Like most allergies in the world the exact cause of pet dander allergies is not known. There are some correlations that the medical community has noted in treating pet dander allergy sufferers.

First, they have noted that many lifelong pet owners, especially those with long haired pets, are more likely to develop pet dander allergies. This is due to the prolonged exposure to the allergen.

Also those that work with animals on a daily basis are likely to develop this allergy. This includes those that work in rescue shelters and in vet offices.
Finally there are those that have weakened immune systems can develop this allergy. A weak immune system allows diseases and infections to run unchecked through the system. Pet dander can irritate already fragile areas of the internal body bringing about the allergy.

Treatments and Cures for Pet Dander Allergies

There is no actual cure for pet dander allergies but they can be controlled. The most extreme of the treatments for pet dander allergies would be to remove all pets from the home. For many this is not an option they are willing to accept.

For those with a severe pet dander allergy there are a series of shots that can be administered by a doctor. It is important to note that this is not a cure. This means a lifetime of shots to suppress the symptoms of a pet dander allergy.

In those with a less severe case there are several pills that can be used to control the allergy. One single pill will not help the patient so a series of pills in varying combination’s will be administered to ensure that further occurrences are suppressed.

Allergies in this world number in the thousands. Each year the medical community is discovering another allergy affecting the population. To many this seems strange, but in truth the human body is a fragile piece of equipment and an allergy is the body’s way of fighting back.

Bleach is probably one of the most common household chemicals in the world. It is used each and everyday to clean clothes and a variety of other items. However, bleach is also one of the most common allergens that can be found in homes all over the world.

Symptoms of Bleach Allergy

The most common symptom for a bleach allergy is swelling. The exposed area will become inflamed and red. This can be immediate but in most cases several hours will pass before the symptoms occur.

Another very common symptom is uncontrollable itching. The area where exposure occurred will begin to itch. Attempting to scratch the area causes extreme pain to the victim.

Some key factors with a bleach allergy include length of exposure, repeated exposure and age. For instance, a splash of bleach on the skin of a person allergic to bleach that is immediately removed may cause only a slight reaction. One the other hand, prolonged exposure can produce life threatening symptoms.

Causes of Bleach Allergy

The exact cause of a bleach allergy is not known. However, most doctors believe that prolonged and repeated exposure can make a person allergic. This is especially common in those that work in the laundry industry. Homemakers are also likely to become allergic to bleach.

In recent years some discoveries have been made as to genetics and their involvement in certain allergies, bleach being one of them. It is very likely that a child born to a parent that is already allergic to bleach will become allergic as they age.

Cures and Treatments for Bleach Allergy

There is no known cure for a bleach allergy. Treatment will vary depending on the patient and the severity of the reaction.
The most common treatment is steroids to stop the inflammation. This treatment is the best course of action for those that can handle taking large doses of steroids for a week.

However, those unable to take steroids have options as well. A good cooling lotion, such as those used for poison ivy are very effective in reducing the itching and swelling from the reaction.

Applying ice packs to the swollen area is an easy way to ease the pain a bleach allergy can cause. However, one should not leave the ice on for too long. Moisture can actually irritate the area and cause more pain for the patient.

The best idea is to avoid the use of bleach and products that contain bleach. If bleach must be used then protective gloves, clothes and eyewear should be worn at all times. Be sure to dry surfaces in the home that have been exposed to bleach thoroughly to avoid accidental exposure.

Others who found this article valuable also found us by face bleach allergy, hair bleach allergy, chlorine bleach allergy and clorox bleach allergy, bleach allergy rash, and bleach allergic reaction.

Almost 400 Americans die each year from allergy related issues. Most of these become serious over a period of times, while others are not so serious, and just cause things like rash, itching, headaches and other basic irritations to the body. Sesame allergies for some people can be serious if not addressed.

The first sign of sesame allergies in children was found back in 1950 when not much was known about sesame. This allergy stumped quite a few experts, and was believed to be one of the next top allergens to cause problems for people. It still however down to this day does not rank even close to the top 8 allergens. Other countries that consumer more sesame than the US however have added it to their major lists.

What causes a sesame allergy?

In most cases sesame is used in the preparation of food. Many Asian and some Indian cuisines use sesame, and in particular, sesame oil to enhance the flavor and texture of food. This has been a major cause for some who eat these types of foods to become affected without even knowing what it is in the food that is giving them a reaction.

Another thing that many people do not know about sesame is that it is used in quite a few cosmetic products including including lipstick, chap stick as well as eye shadow. Most commonly though, people recognize sesame seeds as being associated with hamburger buns.

Symptoms of sesame allergies

For most, the reaction of consuming sesame, or applying a form of it on the skin as with cosmetics can result in hives, swelling, asthma, rash, hay fever, and nasal congestion. If not taken seriously for some, this can lead to other health issues as well. For most people suffering from a sesame allergy, they don’t even realize that this is the cause of their debilitation. This is because it can be hard to make a direct connection between a food or a makeup use which are causing the symptoms, especially if there is a lapse between the time that the symptom is felt.

Because there is a close connection with peanuts, most people do not realize that they also may develop an allergy to peanuts as well in the future. Rye and kiwi along with various treenut allergens can also be a future issue for allergy sufferers. Other nuts which also may be of concern include walnut, hazelnut, and macadamia nuts also.

Treatment for sesame allergies

Obvious the best treatment is abstinence for those suffering from a sesame allergy. Try to avoid certain types of foods which you know will cause you pain and issues later. Also make an effort to avoid other nuts which may cause the same problems and see an allergy doctor to see to what degree the allergy is fueled in your own personal case.

An allergy to latex is not unheard of in most parts of the world. It is stated that about 5-10% of health workers have some form allergy to latex.

Some other people who have a greater risk of latex allergies are those with a abnormal bone marrow, defect in their urinary trace, and those that have multiple surgeries. Latex exposure happens almost routinely in our daily lives. Most of the time exposure happens through latex gloves, but sometimes it can happen in places like the mouth, vagina, or even in the blood stream. This is why it is very important to be up to date on the all of the latex allergy symptoms.

First, the latex allergy rash is classified in medical terms as non-allergic skin reaction, however if any of you are allergic to latex you will know it is not pleasant. The best solution to this is just to wash your hands thoroughly and apply some vitamin rich lotion to your hands. The next higher skin reaction is a bit worse then a simple skin rash instead the allergen causes extremely dry, itchy, and burning skin. These more severe cases last longer and are more spread out through out the body. If this does occur just clean the affected area off and place medicated lotion on the region to stop the awful itching and burning. Then we come to our most sever case of latex allergy attack which in some cases may be fatal. In this case people will start to rhinitis, a stuffy nose, with hay fever symptoms.

Next, the person is start to get conjunctivitis, pink eye. The afflicted person may also develop cramps, hives and extremely itchy skin. In the most rare cases symptoms develop in to rapid heart rate which leads into chest pains, and tremors. The affected person may also find it hard to breathe and have low blood pressure.

These symptoms put together can lead to Anaphylaxsis which can lead to anaphylactic shock which causes the person to stop breathing. This is potentially life threatening and should be cared for form the onset of a allergy attack. If you think you are allergic to latex get tested by a doctor immediately.

Why the urgency? In our world it is hard not to come in contact with the rubber material, thus it is always helpful to check your self out. If you are allergic to latex always carry around an epi-pen never know when the allergy attack might strike. Remember to stay alert about your environment if you are a person prone to allergies.

Having an allergy to an entire food group may stink, but staying alive is more important then getting that lobster bisque, or surf and turf meal. Most Lobster Allergy attacks are the same as a shellfish allergy attack because lobsters are crustaceans like shrimp, and crab.

If you have recently eaten a lobster and do not feel so good there is a good chance you could be allergic to lobsters. Lobster allergies are not a trifling matter it is serious the effected person could be in a life or death situation.

If you work around lobsters and start to feel your lips get itchy and swollen you could be victim to an oral lobster allergy attack. If this does happen to you be very cautious as this can cause anaphylactic shock. However, do not be to afraid if your lip just starts itching most the time you only have an oral allergic reaction, but always take care. Lobster allergies are the least worrisome of the selfish allergies that are out there. Most the selfish allergic reactions are caused by shrimp, but nonetheless if you are allergic to shrimp best to stay away from lobster all together. The worst case scenario is when a person starts to become puffy and swollen this is a huge precursor to anaphylactic shock and medical attention is needed right away.

In addition, to puffiness look out for puffy red eyes, and itchy eyes. These symptoms are not as noticeable as swelling or an itchy swollen lip but nonetheless it should be looked out for in order to prevent a true allergic shock. The best way for you to prevent a shellfish allergy attack is not to try a shellfish and see what happens, rather get tested by your doctor or a professional. This way the next time you are at the old surf and turf you can let your mouth go wild and eat all the lobster tail you want.

If a you or a person around you seems to be having an allergy attack due to lobster then certain steps should be taken in order for that person to not go into anaphylactic shock. Load the person with anti-histamines like Benedryl or Claritin these medication will stop the swelling and keep the person alive until proper medical attention is received. If a person is known to be allergic to many different food items it might also help to keep an epinephrine pen with them at all times. This is help when medical attention is too far away to reach that person. Remember allergy attacks do not have to be a mild occurrence it can and does get dangerous. Always be on the look out and stay sharp.

Alcohol allergies are a rare phenomenon in the United States. Most alcohol allergies occur in the Asian countries and causes the same symptoms as a regular food allergies.

Studies have shown that the cause of the alcohol allergy is because of an insufficient amount of the enzyme Aldehyde Dehydrogenase ALDH. This enzyme is used to break down alcohol to acetic acid which is vinegar. The vinegar is broken down further so that the body can use it for some energy. Thus, people with low levels of ALDH will have allergic reactions because they cannot digest the alcohol to something more edible.

One symptom from an alcohol allergy attack is stomach pain. If a person is complaining of extreme discomfort in their abdomen, ti might be a sign that the person is allergic to alcohol. Nausea is another major alcohol allergy symptom; after two-three drinks the person may feel nauseous and may even vomit. However, vomiting, and stomach pain are hard symptoms to tell apart from an allergy attack or simply from drinking. Instead, look for signs like a stuffy nose or heartburn.

A stuffed nose is a great way to tell if a person is allergic to alcohol because an allergy attack leads to more histamines being released which in turn will instantly clog the nostrils in order to stop the body from further attack. The allergic person may also complain about heart burn as the alcohol is not digesting in their livers and it might actually feel like the worst heart burn they have ever had. Heartburn and a stuffy nose are symptoms that are much more unique to a person who truly suffers from alcohol allergy. In certain cases a person’s skin my start to rash or become itchy, if this does happen stop drinking immediately and consult a doctor. This type of rash might lead to Anaphylaxis and it should be taken care of immediately. In addition , alcohol allergy causes low blood pressure which can lead to all sorts of medical emergencies.

It may take as little as two drinks for allergic symptoms to take effect. However, noticing the symptoms quickly and dealing with the situation effectively can stop a person from visiting the emergency room. If you are allergic to alcohol stay away from caffeine and nicotine. These stimulants will only speed up the allergic process in the blood stream. In case the emergency does arise that a person is having an allergic attack due to alcohol, have the person stop drinking alcohol and start drinking water.

Benedryl and certain other allergy medicines will have an adverse effect if taken. This is because most allergy medicines are anti-histamines and alcohols actually prevent histamines from being down, thus making the allergy medicine useless. However, if the right measures are taken like in any other allergy attack then the person can have a some what of a relaxing experience. Remember to always take things in moderation, and make sure to look for the symptoms of an allergic attack.
